Kidney Failure Treatments in Kerala

You might have seen your friends or family members who suffered from kidney failure cases. Type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure are very common causes of renal failure. Both the diseases are caused by consuming high fat foods and high sodium diets. It is good to be aware of the actions that we need to take to reduce the risk of having renal disease.

Kidneys are the 2 bean shaped structures below our abdomen. Both the kidneys are responsible for carrying out the function of maintaining the proper balance of water and nutrients. When they are unable to get rid of the excess waste and water this leads to kidney failure.

Symptoms of Kidney Failure :

  • Swelling of ankles and feet
  • Weight gain
  • Itching
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness and Tiredness

When to Take Dialysis.?

In some cases the kidneys are damaged and even a possible repair is not going to help. Then the patient's last resort is always a dialysis. The dialysis process involves usage of a machine that performs filtration. This cannot be done in single visit. You may be asked to visit your doctor every week for a regular checkup.

Why Kidney Failure Happens ?

There are two types of diabetes. Diabetes 1 and Diabetes 2.
Diabetes 1 is a result from an inappropriate response from the immune system. This happens when the pancreas is unable to produce insulin required to transport sugar from blood to the cells. Diabetes 2 usually develops in the later stages of life. In both the diabetes high levels of sugar circulate through the bloodstream, which can cause severe damage to most of the organs especially kidney.

High blood pressure is the second villain in the renal failure case. This is related to arterial disease and high sodium content in the diet which comes from high fat foods. High blood pressure damages the blood vessels leading to the kidneys and troubles the filtration. The best way to prevent this is to improve the diet and do regular exercise. Do regular checkup and make sure the blood pressure is normal.

The state of passing urine unknowingly is called urinary incontinence. The important fact is that women are the most affected. While coughing or running many woman loses few drops of urine and some may feel a strong tendancy to urinate before losing a large amount of urine. It’s totally a worse condition for many since it restricts them from enjoying many activities with friends and family.

What causes the females to be a victim of UI (urinary incontinence)?

Some of the factors include pregnancy, menopause, child birth and the formation of urinary tract is the reason for this. Birth defects, stroke, problems associated with aging could be the reasons for UI.

Older Woman is more susceptible to UI than women of younger ages. UI is a medical phenomenon and most cases can be treated successfully without Surgery.

UI occurs due to problems with nerves and muscles that help to release or hold urine. While urinating the muscles in the wall of bladder contract thus forcing urine out of the bladder.

Symptoms of urinary incontinence

The symptoms may depend on the condition you have.

The most common conditions are stress incontinence and urge incontinence.

Chemotherapy For Bladder Cancer

Different methods are used for people with bladder cancer. It is depended on the stage of cancer.
Most common bladder cancer treatment options are surgery, radation therapy, immunotherapy and chemotherapy. In some cases the doctors combines two or more treatment options, like radiation therapy with chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Surgeries are mostly performed in the early stages.

Signs and symptoms :
1. Blood in the urine.
2. Pain during urination
3. Appetite or weight loss
4. Low-grade fever
5. Pain in the pelvic area or lower back

In the early stage when the bladder cancer is identified, then the tumor is removed through the urinary opening, or urethra. A small surgical instrument called laparoscope is used to find the tumor and remove the tumor. This surgery is also known as transurethral resection. If the bladder cancer has spread the bladder has to be removed partially or sometimes completely. Partial bladder removal(cystectomy) is done for patients with less invasive bladder cancer. This usually occurs at the top of the bladder. In men, Radial cystectomy often includes removal of the prostate, the lymph nodes near the hip and semen conducting tubes. For women, a radial cystectomy includes removal of reproductive organs, part of vagina and the urethra.

Why Chemotherapy ?
You may have chemotherapy in one of the following ways
  • During radiotherapy treatment (concommitant chemoradiation)
  • Before radiotherapy
  • Before or after surgery
If you have chemotherapy before your operation or radiotherapy, it can shrink the tumour and aims to make the treatment work better.Clinical trials have shown that chemotherapy before surgery, or before or during radiotherapy, can lower the risk of bladder cancer coming back in the future.

Chemotherapy is often used in combination with surgery. The treatment affects not just the bladder, it affects the entire body. The patients who have undergone chemotherapy would experience nausea, bruising, headache and fatigue. Chemotherapy uses drugs to kill the cancer cells. Chemotherapy uses anti cancer or cytotoxic drugs to destroy cancer cells. They work by disrupting the growth of cancer cells. One or more liquid drugs are introduced into the bladder and left for several hours and drained out later.

So here are a few tips that you should keep in mind to avoid kidney stones.

1. Coffee sodas and carbonated drinks are a good source for the stone formation, try to avoid these maximum and replace it with water. But consumption of cola in a moderate amount is fine. The phosphoric acid in it helps in dissolving the stones.

2. Beverages containing lemons are acidic in nature and have the ability to dissolve kidney stones. Try taking drinks that contains lemon in it.

3. Serving a tablespoon of apple cedar in a cup of water is a very good idea to avoid kidney stones.

4. The seeds of watermelon can also act as an agent for dissolving the stones. So what you need to do is remove seeds from watermelon and place them in a cup of boiled water. Once the seeds absorb the water let them cool and later these seeds can be used with each cup of tea.

5. Cranberry juice is another option. It can act as a dissolving agent too.

6. More importantly relax and rest and drink as much water as you can everyday.

The kidneys’ job is to help remove various toxins (drugs and food wastes), and expel them through the urine. The kidneys are silent and efficient workers, but if they get sick, the whole body suffers.

Types of Kidney Failure

There are two primary types of kidney failure in humans. The first occurs fairly suddenly and is called "acute renal failure". We'll talk later about the causes of this condition. The second disease is more insidious and occurs over time. It is called "chronic renalfailure". This type of kidney failure has causes of its own. The treatment for both types of renal failure is roughly the same, with dialysis and kidney transplant being the most common treatments.

One of the most common causes of acute kidney failure, also called acute renal failure, is the sudden loss of blood flow to the kidneys such as seen in trauma, surgery, septic shock, heavy bleeding, burns or acute dehydration. Infections can cause kidney failure, especially if they cause the kidneys to be infected as well. More rarely, acute tubular necrosis can cause the disease.

Sudden blockage of the kidneys can result in acute kidney failure as does auto immune diseases and diseases that clot the small blood vessels of the kidneys. Some of these conditions include having a transfusion reaction, having malignant high blood pressure , scleroderma or bleeding disorders of pregnancy like an abrupted placenta or a placenta previa.

The sufferer rarely recognizes this illness. The main cause of renal failure is diabetes. And the second cause of the renal failure is genetic disease like immune disorder, club-disabled, and so on. The following is main symptom dealing with the things that can cause acute renal failure.

  • The Pile of Undesired Substances in the Blood.
It is indicated by exhausted, painful in all over the body, itch, cram, forgetful, insomnia, queasy, appetite loss, and immune loss.

  • Liquid balance disorder
If you notice your tarsus and face get swollen, you can ensure yourself that there is a pile of liquid. On the other hand, less of liquid will make your eyes concave, dry lips, and no mucous in your mouth.

  • Hormone disorder
If your renal can not work well, it drives your renal to produce extra hormone. As a result, blood pressure hormone in your body will increase. On the other hand, the production of another hormone gets decreased. This will cause your body suffer from anemia, exhausted, and your bone fragile.

Chronic kidney failure indicates the gradual loss of kidney function. In its advanced stages, it leads to accumulation of dangerous levels of fluid, electrolytes, and wastes in your body. Usually there may not be any symptoms until the kidney is seriously impaired. Chronic failure can lead to situations where artificial filtering called dialysis or transplantation of kidneys.
Chronic failure develops over months and years. The most predominant causes are:

  • Improper control of diabetes
  • Improper regulation of high blood pressure
  • Chronic glomerulonephritis.
  • Kidney stones, prostate diseases etc.
A kidney failure is a condition in which the kidneys fail to adequately filter
waste products. Kidney transplant is a surgery to place a healthy kidney into a
person with kidney failure. Renal disease treatment is best done by Dr.V.Moni

Erectile Dysfunction: An Insight Into The Possible Remedies

Sex is not only a pleasure that can be enjoyed but also a necessity. It is the beautiful way through which humans reproduce. It is more like‘response to stimuli’ stuff, which is necessary for an important action to take place. To get attracted to your dear one and to involve in sex is one of the beautiful and creative things that you can perform. The only thing that becomes necessary is to have the proper response in the right time.
Nothing is so disturbing when your penis fails in the right time when your need it most. To see the disinterest in your partner’s eyes is another thing that affects you emotionally. Medically, this condition is called ‘Erectile Dysfunction’. The patient when affected by this condition, fails either to acquire or sustain the required amount of erection. In many cases, this problem is kept in secrecy due to the fear of being a subject of ridicule. This mindset is improper, and consultation with the doctor is very much essential. This consultation can be very beneficial for correcting this condition at the earliest. An attempt is made here regarding the possible treatments:
  • Erectile dysfunction surgery: the condition can be treated using a surgery known as the ‘Vascular Reconstructive Surgery’. This procedure involves creating a bypass over the area of the blockage. More blood flow to the penis is obtained, which leads to more erection.
  • Erectile Dysfunction Vacuum: A device known as the Vacuum Constriction Device (VCD) can help to attain erection. This device is fitted in the end portion of the penis. The cylinder & pump creates a vacuum so as to develop an erect penis.
  • Penile Implants: These are inflatable and malleable devices that are implanted to the erectile chambers of the penis. However, the implant is to be adjusted slightly for initializing the eretion.
  • Medications: Medicines like Alprostadil can be helpful to increase the flow of blood through the penis. The action of the medicine is to expand the blood vessels, increasing the blood flow.
There are also other treatments that are performed. The appropriate treatment is selected after having a comprehensive physical examination. In addition to these remedies, the patient can help himself by adopting certain lifestyle changes, which can increase the chance of sustaining or attaining erection. Some of these lifestyle changes are mentioned below:
  • Reduce tobacco use: Intake of tobacco is a factor that significantly affects the sexual capability of the individual. Keep away from smokers. A smoke-free environment is not only refreshing, but also healthy.
  • Exercises: General exercises can help the individual in many ways. An appropriate exercise can :
    • Improve the health of heart.
    • Decrease the blood pressure.
    • Strengthen the muscles.
    • Reduce anxiety and stress.
    • Increase the energy level.
  • Minimize alcohol consumption: Alcohol consumption, as it is known can cause various problems including the lowering of sexual drive. Hence minimizing its consumption can not only increasing the chances of erection, but can also improve the general health.
Erectile Dysfunction is not at all a problem that is
difficult to cure. However, it is also to be kept in mind that this is also not the condition that is to be kept in secrecy. An appropriate treatment can indeed help you to experience the sexual ecstasy, something that you were kept away from!
